Pranayam - Love is Divine,so does this movie
Life is more beautiful than dream if you know how to live... and love is more beautiful than anything else to watch on screen if the film is done by a director who loves films to the core...Whenever I watch Vaaranam Ayiram and VTV,I always wanted a beautiful love stroy to happen in Malayalam....And I saw one this time...Pranayam is the most beautiful love story portrayed on Malayalam big screen after the glorious 90s...Going into the details..
Story
Pranayam has a genuine and new storyline...Love stories usually happened at a campus or with the background of unemployed struggling youth...But thinking of a concept like this...The love between old people...It alone deserves a loud round of applause..
Script
Blessy took a long gap after Bhramaram before doing this movie...and such a hardwork is clearly visible in the script..He handled this subject with a great amount of care..This script had a number of instances which could have been vulgar..But he made them beautful and classy..Nobody watching this film would have a bad impression on Grace,Mathews or Achyutha Menon..In the film the creator showed the changes happend in love when generations changed...and none of the charcters looked stupid on screen..Everyone had their own role to play..
Direction
I don't think much will doubt about Blessy's directorial skill...If anyone has such a doubt this one is the answer to it..The selection of location, style of picturisation etc deserves special mention..Padmarajan school has produced a nice product...
Performances
For most of the actors who took part in this film, this one will be one of the best performances of their career..Mohanlal,Jayaprada,Anupam Kher..Getting such superb performers for the lead roles helped a lot in bringing a lot of class to this movie...In the supporting role Anoop Menon is the one who excelled...He is surely one to be stayed in this industry...
Dialogues
The film had a no. of situations where beautiful dialogues could be rendered and none of the situations are wasted...The characterisation of Mathews as a philosophy professor brought more believability than a common man speaking such words...Much of the dialogues will stay in our heart and that is the biggest complement I can give for these dialogues..
Songs & BGM
Apt situations, visualisations and locations for good melodies to happen...Nice songs that stay in our mind..My personal pick is the one sung by Lalettan himself and Pattil ee pattil...Sherya Ghoshal with her magical voice could actually induce love...BGM went along with the movie quite well...
What could've done more...
Director should have taken some more care in selecting properties that matches the time at which story is being going on..
Note: I have been waiting for such a performance from Lalettan..As Anupam Kher said he is a dangerous actor who will steal the show all by himself whomever may be acting with him..he doesn't even require his hands and legs for it...The scene of stroke is the perfect example for it...

I went to watch this movie just because it was directed by Satyan Anthikad..In his films I always found a kerala which is not find elsewhere..I have always astonished by the way he find locations with so much scenic beauty and a pleasant calmness...And this movie did keep my expectation in that sense..Going into other details..
Story
The protagonist Ajayan, played by Mohanlal is someone who has returned to kerala after living in other states and gulf for a considerable span of time..He is highly nostalgic, keeps a great amount of love in his heart, and boasts about a lot of things..One day a boy came into his life..He claims to be Ajayan's son..How this incident changes the life of Ajayan and those around him forms the rest of the story...
In this try also Satyan Anthikad managed to find a story where he can put his signature stuffs ie, the serenity of village and village people..The kerala in the sense of god's own country...and all those stuffs...
Script
As a scriptwriter Satyan Anthikad has certainly improved..but his script writing skill is yet to match his directorial excellence...He could pull out an excellent first half which make someone who went to watch with the least expectations waits for the second half to find the way the story unfolds further..The first half had a number of instances with clean and good humour..The characters where introduced in a nice and simple manner..and till the word interval appears on screen we won't feel any lag at all..
But afterwards he looses control over the script and it leads to a climax which seems to be not reliable..The climax seems to the major weakness of the movie..and it stands out bigger after that excellent first half which gave a lot of expectations...
Performances
One of the biggest plus point of the movie is the performances of actors..Lalettan just lived as Ajayan...He looked very flexible in comedy and his expressions could even create humour..His reaction to certain situations were just outstanding...Sheela was just average for me..Rahul Pillai did justice to his character..But the lack of depth in his character make him leave the screen without leaving a mark...Innocent almost ruled the few number of scenes he was present...
Direction
As a director Satyan Anthikad was never a flop to me and he kept his standard even this time...This is definitely a movie with than Anthikadan touch..A person like me who is a great fan of him becomes greater fan of his direction...
Songs & BGM
Songs were apt for the situation and my personal pick is 'Amruthamay - the Rahul Nambiar version'.BGM matched too well with the movie and it never override the situation at any time..
Overall
It's a nice flick which somewhere down the line missed the chance to become an excellent one...The cost of second half in the box office is yet to be calculated..
N.B: the dialogue 'എല്ലാത്തിനും അതിന്റെതായ സമയമുണ്ട് ദാസാ ' got the maximum applause in the theater...
